• Design Brief

The purpose is to create a fairer world, particularly focusing on the large amount of child refugees, it should show empathy and understanding. First evaluated and understood the needs of different communities by using five senses, doing research, practicing ATL skills, "pealing the fruit" by analyzing images and thinking in their perspective. The goal is to design and create a prototype toy that enhances play opportunities for refugee children aged 6-12, while considering cultural sensitivity, durability, and accessibility. The toy should promote emotional well-being and/or learning through play. With some inspiration from existing products, the toy should be a small, portable gadget that children can interact with.

  • @Raifah You’ve made a good observation by describing the process of evaluating and understanding the needs of different communities using five senses, research, ATL skills, and “peeling the fruit” by analyzing images and thinking from their perspective. This is valuable reflection for your portfolio, but it isn’t necessary to include this level of detail in the design brief itself. The design brief should focus more on outlining the problem, specifying the target audience (with age where appropriate), and describing the intended solution.

When you mention, “With some inspiration from existing products,” be sure to specify what those products are. The reader needs to clearly understand what inspired your idea—give concrete examples. You have started to do this by describing a “small, portable gadget,” but a bit more detail or naming specific examples will strengthen your explanation.

Overall, you’re off to a solid start.
