    Best known for King Hammurabi, who is famous for his code of laws. The city of Babylon became a major power in Mesopotamia.
    Assyrian Empire (circa 2500 - 612 BCE)
    The Assyrians were notable for their military prowess and expansive empire that dominated much of the Near East at its peak.
    Neo-Babylonian Empire (Chaldean Dynasty, circa 626 - 539 BCE)
    This empire saw the resurgence of Babylon as a major power, especially under King Nebuchadnezzar II.
